“In the New World” is my Memoir written as a Novel. The chapters are serialized – shades of Charles Dickens
I’m offering Chapter 5, which introduces Buzz Aldrin into the story, for free. If you like it, and want to go on to the next, I ask only that you become a recurring monthly subscriber. What do you get for that? You keep me motivated, get each new chapter, and get the complete book at the end.
I’ve created a subscription page here where you can read the chapters as I publish them.
Chapter 5, “The Man in the Gold Visor” is free! You can read it now. If you like it and subscribe, Chapter 1 will be immediately available.
To read Chapter 1 sign up for a $6 recurring monthly subscription.
I’ll post a new chapter (in the proper sequence) each week after that. https://ko-fi.com/frankbraun/posts
I hope you enjoy the Story.
A word about this Memoir. Several historical characters like Buzz Aldrin, Dr. Jonas Salk, and others, such as John F. Kennedy Jr., make their appearance in my life story. Whenever these real life characters enter onto the scene, I adhere strictly to the factual, historical truth, quoting them precisely and in context, as I would if I were writing as a journalist.
Other sections of the Memoir, including scenes in my own life, I may take the liberty to invent and collapse actual times, events and characters, while remaining steadfastly loyal to the artistic truth of the story. The aesthetic and dramatic truth of the Story is paramount, but so is history.
E.L. Doctorow did this in his novel “Ragtime”, but in a slightly different way.
